The Position
We are looking for a permanent Staff Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for an exciting position in New South Wales. Joining a team of 8 Registrars, you will ensure provision of high-quality O&G services to all patients within the health district. You will proactively:
• Support the development of O&G services
• Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
• Support and develop O&G research within the department
Health Service
Just 90mins south of Sydney, this health district provides health services for around 400,000 people. It is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 staff operating eight hospital sites and providing community health services from approximately 58 locations across the region. This hospital is the largest of the eight hospitals in the district, treating more than 48,000 patients annually. It is the region’s tertiary referral hospital servicing a population of more than 400,000 people. The hospital is a 500+ bed centre which provides both general and specialty medical and surgical services including adult intensive care and coronary care units.
3800 births per annum. It’s a joy to to work with the midwifery team.
SMOs = 8 (Staff Specialists and VMOs).
Trainees = 7 (4 ITP and 3 UAT)
3 x SRMOs and 3 RMOs

Essential Criteria
• Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
• Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
• Significant experience at a senior O&G specialist level with demonstration of competency working independently with complex emergencies and limited support.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and other staff of the hospital.
The Package
• Base Salary: $186,241 - $251,618 (dependent on experience) Salary ranging: $262,376 to $354,479 dependent on billing.
