MRAEL in partnership with Insignia are looking for a mechanically minded Printer Apprentice to join their production site in Wakerley, QLD.

What’s involved?
The Wakerley site focuses on Flexographic printing; a technique that uses a flexible printing plate wrapped around cylinders on a web press. These plates have raised images that are inked, then rotate at high speeds to transfer the ink to the substrate. Working in the tight-knit team you will be reporting to the Production Supervisor and find yourself shadowing qualified printers providing assistance and developing skills to eventually operate your own press.
This role is a full-time 4-year Apprenticeship and will typically see you carry out the following duties:
* Shadow qualified printers as they operate press machines and undertake machine maintenance
* Provide assistance to qualified printers including keeping work area clean, preparing boxes, retrieving inks, cutting and preparing cores
* Support with setting up flexographic presses between jobs
* Assist with quality checks of finished product
* General housekeeping of production floor
* Prepare and maintain work area
* Prepare, load and unload product on and off machine
* Support with transporting stock
* Support in the finishing department including slitting and rewinding of finished product
About you:
To suit this role, you will be an eager and motivated individual with a passion for the graphic and printing industry. You will have good communication skills, seek out opportunities to learn and show initiative in your everyday duties.
* Drivers licence and vehicle (strongly desired).
* Year 12 High School Completion (strongly desired).
