Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Finance Advisor.
About the Role
This role supports financial leadership and provides advice and business analysis in matters relating to all financial, service costing, system development and funding models. This role also provides periodic financial management and performance reporting support by negotiating, managing, and maintaining the budgetary, activity and financial plan for these services to maximise the ability to deliver services within the funding constraints approved by the department.
Key Duties will include but not limited to
* Develop a robust knowledge of the business and continuously improve professional capability in consultation with the Finance Business.
* Manager to enable the provision of advice and analysis to key stakeholders, including detailed understanding of cost structure and operational drivers.
* In collaboration with the financial performance team and other stakeholders, develop, manage and co-ordinate local forecasting methodologies to provide advice to the Chief Finance Officer on Funding and Reporting on forecast projections and financial performance trends.
* Play a key role in the development, co-ordination, monitoring and maintenance of the departments operational and capital budget, whilst understanding the key drivers of cost and activity.
* Analyse and monitor cost centres and develop appropriate strategies while engaging with managers and team leaders in controlling their budgetary responsibilities.
* Prepare briefs, fact sheets, procedures and other written documentation to a high standard on various subject matters related to the role.
* Understand future service requirements and provide high level advice in relation to the future funding needs of the assigned business area/s.
* Monitor and provide expert advice regarding the implications of service agreement negotiations with the department.
* Monitor and report on the performance of the assigned business area/s in relation to financial, human resource and activity key performance indicators.
About You
* Must have strong Management Accounting experience – including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis.
* Ability to support the Finance Business Manager in providing required financial information and advice to senior management on all financial management issues within a large and complex organisation.
* Ability in the maintenance of budgets, monitoring of performance and reporting on key performance indicators in a complex and diverse operating environment.
* Advanced analytical skills (including benchmarking) of a service’s cost and the identification of effective strategies to deliver greater efficiencies.
* Ability to appraise projects and business improvement initiatives based on the strategic framework of the business area.
* Proven expertise in developing and maintaining required financial models for funding and reporting.
* High-level communication and interpersonal skills.
* Advanced level skills in the application of computerised information systems to enable the development of meaningful reports and the collation and analysis of information, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word,
* Demonstrated experience working within large complex entities within, Government, private/commercial, or Health sectors.

* $84.419 to $90.47 per hour + Super
* 12-month contract
* Ipswich Location
* Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
