Job Description
Under the direction of the District Fire Coordinator:
1. Participates in the planning, coordination and implementation of the road management and road maintenance works programs, capital bridge replacement program and capital road projects within Donnelly District.
2. Liaises with community groups, local government, other government agencies and private organisations on matters relating to the department’s road and operational management roles.
3. Undertakes an active role in prescribed burning and bushfire suppression operations.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.
4. Knowledge of and experience in the operational implementation of works programs associated with natural land management or a closely related field or technical area, with a preference for some experience and knowledge of the threats to conservation and wildlife values associated with road and bridge management, and knowledge of risk management principles and practices.
5. Knowledge and experience in leading teams, showing a high level of self-motivation and skills in organising and implementing works programs, scheduling work, setting and reviewing goals and controlling and reviewing progress, including experience with contractors and volunteers.
6. Evidence of good interpersonal and oral communication skills and experience in effective liaison with external organisations, including local authorities, private companies, other government agencies, stakeholders (including Aboriginals) and community interest groups and evidence of openness and honesty in all dealings including supervisors, work colleagues, customers and the general public.
7. Evidence of ability to project and contract manage, prepare budgets, and control expenditure of allocated work projects. Evidence of ability to read and interpret construction plans including survey data. Evidence of ability to show a conscientious approach to all issues and consistency in meeting project deadlines.
Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
