As the Civil Operations Manager you will perform a program manager role ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of a program of projects contributing to SGQ’s success and growth. Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, you will be responsible for works allocation to project managers (including being a project manager from time to time), workforce coordination, resource management, and operational improvements while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. You will also play a key role in financial oversight, managing budgets and cost efficiencies to support business objectives.RESPONSIBLE TO: General Operations ManagerRESPONSIBLE & Accountable FOR:Position Specific Duties:Monitor, analyse and report on a program of projects operational performance, identify trends and potential areas of concern.Provide communication link between project staff and senior management of SGQ.Develop and implement strategies to provide an ongoing program of projects for the workforce.Work with the Pre-Contract Manager to target, review and successfully win tenders in a competitive market.Oversee and direct program of projects to effectively coordinate various aspects of construction activities with an efficient allocation of resources.Allocate and prioritise projects to project managers based on needs of SGQ and customer requirements.Assess and analyse operational and financial risks that may be encountered in the execution of construction projects.Play a crucial role in problem-solving, ensuring quick and commercially viable decisions are made to mitigate issues that arise on-site.Conduct regular site inspections and meetings with team members and clients addressing any challenges and provide guidance to ensure the successful execution of construction operations.Balance multiple priorities while ensuring SGQ’s and client objectives are met.In addition, undertake a Project Managers role as and when necessary.Act as the Contractors Representative in relation to the resolution of contractual issues with the Principal team and sub contract/supplier performance.Reporting program of projects performance to the General Manager of Operations.Business Development & Innovation:Identify industry best practice for operations and implement approved strategies for the optimum achievement of SGQ’s objectives.Develop and implement the application of project management systems to effectively support the delivery of civil infrastructure projects within SGQ.Explore and establish strong business development networks for the optimum achievement of SGQ’s long term financial goals.Communication:Develop and maintain high-quality employee relations through adopting effective practices to improve communication within the workplace.Networking with other Civil Operations Managers to ensure optimum delivery of civil infrastructure projects.Continuously strengthen and manage relationships with customers, key stakeholders and suppliers necessary for the commercial success of the project.Basic Fatigue Management:You have a vital role to play in making sure drivers do not drive while fatigued, breach the work and rest limits or exceed the speed limits.
