About The Role
We are seeking an ambitious and driven Design Manager to join our team in Rhodes, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping multimillion-dollar industrial projects. This is your opportunity to lead design strategy, driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and innovation with a strong focus on buildability and value engineering.
In this role, you’ll work hands-on with high-profile industrial developments, collaborating closely with clients and internal teams to bring concepts to life while solving challenges that arise along the way. Your ability to build strong relationships will be key in fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring project success.
This role offers the chance to travel to project sites, giving you firsthand insight into the impact of your work, with regular visits to our head office in Bathurst. Key Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee the end-to-end design process for several precast and steel construction projects
* Collaborate with a team of designers, drafters, and engineers to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables
* Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and production teams to optimise design for manufacturing and construction
* Assist to mentor and provide guidance to design team resources and ensure deliverables are maintained
* Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and specifications in compliance with relevant building codes and industry standards
* Manage design budgets, forecasting, and cash flow to ensure cost-effective project delivery
* Ensure effective coordination between architectural, structural, and engineering disciplines
* Identify and implement innovative design solutions that improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
* Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise
* Oversee the use of BIM, CAD, and other design technologies to enhance design accuracy and project coordination
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in design workflows and best practices
About You
As our Design Manager, you’ll be leveraging your expertise in preconstruction to shape high-impact industrial projects. You thrive in fast-paced environments, excelling at stakeholder management and driving projects to successful, cost-effective outcomes. You can demonstrate :
* 5–8 years of experience in design management within the construction industry, ideally in commercial or industrial projects, with a strong background in concrete and steel
* Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Construction Management is required
* Proficiency in project management tools / software like CAD and BlueBeam
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and standards
