The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Manager, Analytics will manage and oversee the design and delivery of projects under DGS' Strategic Partnerships program. These projects are focused on delivering analytical capability uplift, including skills and technology, through partnership with Victorian Government agencies. The role works closely with a Managing Technical Specialist who is the technical lead responsible for design and implementation of solutions.
The Manager will oversee key activities including project and risk management, budget tracking, staff utilisation and managing relationships with partner agencies. The Manager, Analytics will also lead identification of future projects through business development and oversee a team of technical subject matter experts to design and scope solutions.
The position requires the flexibility to respond to rapid change, strong management, planning and execution capability to deliver a varied work agenda. Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders and senior officials across the Victorian Government is critical. Skills and knowledge in the area of data and analytics are not mandatory, but highly valued.
Key Accountabilities include:
1. Explore and build new relationships at all levels of the public sector to promote data capability uplift within and across government organisations.
2. Support a multidisciplinary team of data specialists to plan, initiate and deliver successful data capability reform projects in collaboration with partnering agencies within the VPS.
3. Apply contemporary project and program management frameworks and techniques, including supporting adoption of these approaches in the broader Transformation Projects team.
Mandatory requirements
4. Proven experience providing high level project support to a senior manager or executive team.
Desirable requirements
5. An understanding of contemporary public sector data reform risks, issues, opportunities and challenges.
