The Opportunity:
The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage are looking to establish a pool of Law Graduate (L5/SCL2)/Legal Officer (SCL3)
The Law Graduate and Legal Officer are instrumental in delivering a legislative and governance framework that reflects government and community expectations, embracing change and leading reform activities.
They support the preparation of and advises on legislative and regulatory frameworks which are contemporary and fit for purpose. This role achieves these deliverables through the provision of highly responsive, customer focused Legal Services to the Department.
Legal Graduate Level 5/SCL2 – the level will depend on your level of completion of studies
If you are a recent graduate law student, or working towards your legal completions whilst obtaining work experience, we have the opportunity for start at as a Legal Graduate with the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage, with the opportunity to possibly progress into a SCL3 Legal Officer role upon satisfactory completion of your:
1. Legal qualification; and
2. Admission to practice in the Supreme Court of WA (as per the SC Manual).
Success in this role hinges on your ability to efficiently identify pertinent legal issues, conduct thorough data analysis, and conduct in-depth research on legal questions. Your skill in preparing routine or straightforward legal documents and correspondence in adherence to the department's standards will be crucial to excel in this position.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate:

4. Good-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
