About Our Role An exciting opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of Mechanical Team Leader at our Bathurst food manufacturing facility. Simplot Bathurst is referred to as “The Home of Edgell”, being the original birthplace of the well-loved Australian brand. A large investment of $100 million has recently been made at the site, transforming it into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enabling increased production capacity, and ultimately help boost local and export volumes. Reporting to the Area Maintenance Manager, this permanent day shift Mon-Fri role will coordinate planned maintenance activities, provide continuous improvement support and provide coverage for other Mechanical Team Leaders where required. This role will also involve leading a team of tradespeople (incl. shift & day work Fitters apprentices & casual / contract labour) to meet the site’s production and maintenance schedules in order to optimise plant reliability, minimise costs and improve employee safety. The Mechanical Team Leader may also be required to coordinate external resources for the completion of critical work. What You Will Do Lead a mechanical maintenance team where required to ensure that KPI targets are continuously met and implement corrective actions (if necessary). Coordinate and supervise the safe and effective execution of planned maintenance work in accordance with the maintenance schedule. Respond to un-planned emergency breakdowns in a timely manner, whilst ensuring compliance to company OHS&E procedures, such as JHA, Take 5, special permit requirements etc Collaborate with the Maintenance Planners and production department to coordinate and supervise the execution of ‘opportunity’ work activities in addition to providing technical input and support Ensure that work undertaken by team members is completed to the highest levels of safety, efficiency and quality of workmanship Arrange contractors to provide services where required Participate and contribute to, site continuous improvement (CI) activities Assist with the preparation of contract documents, service agreements, calling of tenders and on site supervision of contract labour as required by the Area Maintenance Manager. Contribute to the site’s reliability strategy by providing technical inputs to maintenance planning, scheduling and execution the relevant technical knowledge to assist with strategic decision making relating to maintenance planning, scheduling and execution. About You Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety & wellbeing in the workplace Hold an Mechanical trade qualification (Fitting Trade). Possess a high degree of technical competency in regard to industrial mechanical activities. Demonstrated experience in leading a diverse team of mechanical staff within a manufacturing environment (preferably FMCG). Understanding of CMMS packages (MEX / SAP will be advantageous) Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing methodology. Ability to liaise with a wide group of stakeholders from the Maintenance, Engineering and Production departments in addition to site management and external stakeholders. Strong problem-solving acumen. Skilled in communication with a diverse demographic of stakeholders. Knowledge of industry and legislated standards and regulation.
