Our Building team is seeking a highly driven, passionate, customer focused and well organised registered Building Surveyor to join our progressive Development Assessment and Certification department.
With an appetite for growth and a commitment to connectivity with our customers you will play a key role in assisting and navigating customers through the complexities of the building assessment and certification environment. Our team aims to deliver superior frontline customer experiences in the assessment, processing and determination of a broad range of development and construction applications throughout our local government area.
Your key responsibilities are:
* Assess and determine a high volume of development applications, construction certificates and complying development certificates
* Undertake the role of Registered Certifier and Principal Certifier in accordance with relevant legislation
* Provide specialist and technical advice and opinions to Councillors, staff and external stakeholders
* Facilitate outcomes between affected parties and Council regarding development assessment and certification activities
* Investigate and resolve compliance and regulatory matters on behalf of Council

You have excellent analytical and problems solving skills with the ability to listen to reason, evaluate and articulate best in class solutions without compromising on integrity.
Specifically, you will have:
* Degree or Graduate Diploma in Building or other suitable qualification relevant to the field of expertise, with extensive development assessment and certification experience
* Registered with NSW Fair Trading as a Building Surveyor restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings) in accordance with NSW Building and Development Certifiers Regulation 2020
* Demonstrated commitment to working within a team
* Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of exceptional customer experiences
* Ability to articulate and negotiate outcomes in accordance with legislation and Council’s policies
* Demonstrated organisation skills with a proven ability to prioritise high volume workloads
* An understanding of cost structures associated with developments, seeking to minimise applicant’s costs by the efficient processing of applications.
