The Geospatial Intelligence Analyst (Geospatial Technician) is a soldier in the Australian Intelligence Corps (AUSINT). The role of AUSINT is to support the military decision making processes at the tactical, operational and strategic level.
Geospatial Intelligence Analysts provide geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) to the commander to inform their decision making in operations. You don’t need prior experience to join. Critical quick-thinking is beneficial and you’ll gain a solid foundation in the use of mapping to create accurate and visually appealing maps and geospatial intelligence. You’ll also gain an understanding of weapon systems, meteorology, statistics, terrorism and human demographics to enhance your skills.
Where and who we work with
As a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst, you will:
1. Capture, collect and exploit data from desktop sources, equipment or imagery (hand-held or airborne)
2. Manage geospatial data & information
3. Manipulate and enhance geospatial data
4. Provide geospatial support products including maps, terrain analysis and 3D visualisations
5. Provide advice as it relates to geospatial information

Imagery Analysis, imagery capture and exploitation, airborne digital sensor operator, advanced computing, driver, leadership and post-graduate tertiary courses may be offered as you progress through your career.
