This role entails performing testing and providing process planning support for the upcoming project while ensuring adherence to safety protocols throughout the process.
Reporting directly to the Train Validation Manager, the Train Manager serves as the primary liaison between the Customer team and the internal team. Initially stationed at Williams St and Ballarat, with subsequent relocation to Newport, this position will predominantly involve night shifts during the testing phase.
Responsibilities during the testing phase include:
• Preparing for test implementation and assessing the train's capability to complete the test.
• Serving as the single point of contact aboard the allocated test train, providing instructions to the test driver.
• Assisting Alstom Test Managers in generating failure reports and compiling the test reports.
• Coordinating all on-board personnel, including Alstom team members, customers, operators, and visitors.
• Ensuring overall safety (EHS) during testing and ensuring all individuals aboard the train are familiar with EHS regulations.
• Managing the configuration of the test train sets.
• Conducting safety investigations and promptly reporting all EHS events on-board.
Responsibilities outside the testing phase include:
• Coordinating the work of various Company teams and the Test Manager for organizational and implementation purposes when the train set is not undergoing dynamic tests.
• Providing support for static test activities and witness management.
• Assisting with troubleshooting activities and equipment functionality and calibration.
• Supporting test plan risk assessments where applicable and ensuring the application of risk controls as per assessment outcomes and operational plans.
Required Qualifications:
• On field experience of Test or Validation technician
• Strong understanding of Mainline and general Australian EHS and Rolling Stock safety laws.
Desirable:
• Practical knowledge of troubleshooting activities.
• Experience in data acquisition, programming, and instrumentation.
• Expertise in specific testing domains such as EMC, Brake, Traction, and Train Control systems.
• Structured and organized approach to the job.
• Strong coordination skills and ability to make decisions.
