Narrogin Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a passionate and energetic Hospitality/Home Economics Assistant to complement their existing staff.
An exciting opportunity has opened up to be part of the School’s Hilltop Café. This position is based in the hospitality training complex which is a modern training facility that opens to the public for restaurant service 1 day per week as part of student workplace learning experience. This role will be well suited to a positive social person that enjoys working with teenagers. The education programs provided to students from year 10 to year 12 include hospitality industry trade certificates that prepare the students for future workplace aspirations.
The Hospitality – Home Economics Assistant will play an active part in service support for the students during restaurant hours including taking food orders. You may also be required “Front of House” assisting the students in their interactions and experiences with the public.
Under the direction of the Teacher, the successful applicant will assist in the delivery of planned hospitality programs and will at times be working with students in individual or small group situations implementing programs or demonstrations. Sound preparation and cooking skills will be highly advantageous. They will also assist with the preparation of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials, and resources for use in classes, displays and demonstrations, and assist the Teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities. They will also check all equipment and report any discrepancies to the Teacher.
The successful applicant will support the Teacher and students in out-of-class activities and school excursions along with assisting with the general care and wellbeing of students, including attending to students in need of educational learning and minor first aid. The successful applicant should be able to work effectively in a team environment and have well developed interpersonal skills to communicate with students, parents, and teaching professionals on a regular basis.
Narrogin SHS is an Independent Public School and situated in the heart of Western Australia's rich agricultural area and with over 650 students we are the largest Senior High School in the region, with three local feeder primary schools and TAFE that work closely with the school. Narrogin is a major service and educational centre about two hours drive (193 km) from Perth and has the convenience of a country town with the benefits of a regional city. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

1. Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents, and teaching professionals.
2. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
