The role will involve field-based and desktop-based environmental work in WA. May include travel to Kalgoorlie and other localities outside of the Pilbara as the need arises.Key ResponsibilitiesReviewing all current approvals and checking for compliance or other environmental issuesReviewing ISO14001 documentation including but not limited to Risk Registers and Environmental Management PlansReviewing the above to prioritise higher risk areas that need further focus (or auditing) to ensure complianceAssist in facilitation of external and internal environmental approvals auditsComplete four audits (LUC's) per Financial YearCommunicate with supervisory and managerial staff on the environmental approvals performance as requiredProvide advice to site team on environmental approvals and environmental compliance issuesIdentify actions to ensure compliance is documented and implemented in appropriate timeframeEnsure incident outcomes are conveyed to the wider team and actions are put in place to prevent reoccurrence.Carry out further Environmental Approvals inspections, monitoring and incident investigation as they ariseEnsure all approvals related reportable incidents are investigated and appropriately communicatedReview and provide comment on environmental approval documentation, management plans and procedures.Write and roll out environmental appropriate toolboxes, SWI's and other training as applicable.Provide direction and advice to Site teams in all areas of environmental managementQualifications and ExperienceDegree qualification in Environmental Science/Conservation Biology (or similar)2-5 years' experience in an associated environmental approvals/exploration/mining or Government sectorsExperience in delivering management plan and associated documented objectivesExperience in auditing/inspections of environmental approvals within a dynamic working environmentAbility to work with consultants and complete Health and Safety requirements for Environmental SurveysAbility to work individually and as a team for project workAbility to organize, coordinate and prioritise effectivelyAbility to work with the Exploration/Resource Development leadership team and form positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAbility to interpret legislationGood understanding of current legislative requirements in regard to environmental management in WAGood knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management SystemsManual C Class Driver's LicenceCertificate II First Responder or IV in Basic Healthcare would be desirableOur CommitmentFortescue is deeply committed to providing a safe culture that builds respect, fosters inclusiveness, and values diversity.
