About Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. MHDAS is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community. This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery-oriented service delivery to redesign our service system. About The Role The Program Medical Director (Quality), in partnership with the Director of Nursing, provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure high clinical standards, safety, and quality across the mental health directorate. This role leads clinical governance, risk management, and quality improvement activities, including overseeing case reviews, complex case reviews, and critical incident investigations. Additionally, the director oversees medical workforce development, including the management of registrar training, support for academic psychiatrists, and oversight of research activities, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. The role also involves managing medico-legal matters, working closely with legal teams on coronial issues and risk management, and ensuring the availability of appropriate medical training pathways and recruitment processes for junior medical staff. With a focus on patient experience, the director will monitor feedback, compliments and complaints to ensure continuous improvement in service quality and care. Furthermore, the position includes clinical oversight for the Statewide programs, ensuring consistency and excellence in care delivery across all services.
