We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Support Worker to join our dynamic team in Newcastle.
As a Community Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personalised support to individuals with disabilities within their homes and communities. This position requires travel to various locations to assist clients with personal care, domestic duties, community access and achieving their NDIS goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, bowel care, dressing, and grooming.
Assist with medication management and administration.
Prepare and cook nutritious meals for clients.
Perform domestic duties, such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
Organise and accompany clients to appointments and social activities.
Work collaboratively with clients to develop and achieve their NDIS goals.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records.
Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages clients' independence and well-being.
Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience in a similar role within the disability support or healthcare sector is valued but not essential for applicants who are the right fit.
Strong understanding of personal care practices and medication management is a huge plus.
Bowel care experience and/or Manual Handling training highly regarded.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and their families.
Compassionate and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Flexibility to travel to various locations and adapt to different client needs.
Proficiency in basic computer skills and experience with client management systems.
Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Desirable
Experience working in the Disability Industry or currently studying/completed studies in a relevant discipline.
Strong desire to learn and advance in the field of disability support.
