The Role As an Assistant Accountant, you'll take ownership of payroll while supporting a range of transactional accounting and reconciliation duties—playing a key role in the day-to-day finance operations of a mission-driven organisation.
Key responsibilities include: Processing payroll end-to-end for approx.
85 employees across multiple café sites and head office, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Preparing and lodging compliance reports including PAYG, IAS, BAS, and superannuation contributions.
Managing daily finance operations including AP processing, bank and POS reconciliations, inventory entries, and vendor engagement.
Assisting month-end close tasks such as reconciling café income, stocktakes, petty cash, and supplier statements.
Monitoring finance shared mailboxes and providing timely responses and resolutions for accounts or payroll queries.
Supporting system integrations and process improvement, helping to streamline and modernise finance operations.
About You!
Ideally, you bring strong experience in payroll and transactional accounting, with a sharp eye for detail and a methodical approach.
You're comfortable using systems like Xero, Prospend, Lightyear, and Bepoz, and you pick up new platforms quickly.
You communicate clearly and handle competing deadlines with ease, thriving in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
If you have experience improving processes or supporting projects, that's a bonus!
