The role of the clinical nurse is to provide direct and indirect client focused clinical expertise, support and education to nursing staff within the ICU to ensure best practice, quality care is provided.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is at 18-bed level 6 tertiary ICU. POD 1 is where critically ill adult patients are cared for. POD 2 is our adult post-operative surgical side used mainly for patients who need overnight care e.g. post cardiac surgery.
Generous remuneration package Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $132,289 p.a., comprising salary range of $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6 - Band 1), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%).

Skills and experience
1. Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.
2. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes.
3. Ability to provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
4. Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
5. Proven ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level and demonstrate own professional development.
Requirements
6. Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
7. Appointees must be able to obtain and maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per Townsville Hospital and Health Service policy Life Support Training and Assessment
8. Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
9. Highly Desirable: Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing would be well regarded.
