Reporting to General Manager Corporate Services, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) leads Council’s financial strategy and management, working collaboratively across all stakeholders in Council providing financial leadership and governance to ensure Council’s long-term financial sustainability. As CFO you will lead the Council’s finance team, with three direct reports and a broader team of approximately 50 staff. This role is key in fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement, particularly in the areas of financial reporting and visibility, budget planning processes and structure as well as fostering innovative solutions to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of Council. Providing expert advice on financial matters, this role requires someone who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships across Council with a customer-centric and engaging approach.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a CFO or Senior Finance Manager, having led the finance function from within a complex business environment. Known for your ability to drive improved financial outcomes, performance, and reporting, you bring the ability to make complex data simple and motivate and engage teams and stakeholders towards a shared vision. To be successful in this role, you will bring an understanding of the complexity in which a local government authority operates, with an innovative and dynamic approach to finance. The preferred candidate will also hold a degree in Accounting or Business and a CPA or CA.
