Assistant Director, Practice Support and Account Management
Team Overview: Claims Operations is a large, multi-disciplinary team delivering high performance claims management. The team is made up of Claims Teams and a Practice Support and Account Management (PS&AM) Team. The team works closely with the Injury Management and Return to Work Support Team and Claims Administration and Income Support Team, collaborating to achieve positive outcomes for employees and employers. Each Claims Operations team is assigned Australian Public Service (APS) portfolios, agencies or claim types. The team is accountable for the management of claims within their portfolio; relationship management for the agencies within that portfolio and achieving claim outcomes for that portfolio.
The key duties of the position include:
* Contribute to Comcare’s purpose, Corporate Plan and claims management strategy and operating model.
* Lead account management of employer agencies for Comcare including monitoring information on agencies. Support strategic relationships between Comcare and employers and provide reporting, briefing and other supports to the Executive to improve the experience of employers and manage issues.
* Deliver account management and support services to claims operations in line with the claims management strategy including the achievement of claims management targets and contributing to successful completion of improvement projects. This includes monitoring claims management activities and compliance with Comcare’s rules and objectives.
* Provide comprehensive and authoritative advice on specialist and very complex issues.
* Support the Director, Claims Operations, by coordinating, managing and monitoring claims management activities impacting employers and engagement with employer clients.
* Work across Comcare and our client agencies, to focus on the delivery of consistent claims management, positive claim outcomes, sharing information and better practice, and resolving conflicts.
* Coordinate the activities of the Technical Capability Officers, including monitoring workload & output, identifying where their skills can be best utilised and ensuring they are inducting new starters in the most efficient way.
* Lead and manage a team in accordance with APS and Comcare requirements including human resource, financial management and procurement requirements. Develop and manage the team including working to ensure appropriate resourcing.
* Connect and integrate claims management with other functions of Comcare and across the APS including leading Comcare’s representation and activities.
* Accountable for monitoring emerging issues for employer agencies and identifying impact on agency priorities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Highly Desirable:
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as law, health, compensation, business or management.
* Experience in insurance or injury compensation account management.
Desirable:
* Experience working in a public sector context.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Australian citizenship.
2. Character clearance (Australian Criminal History Check).
3. Employee Health Declaration.
4. Six months probationary period for new engagements.
5. Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
6. Specific Conditions: Hold and maintain a motor vehicle driver license for a motor vehicle.
7. Some intra and interstate travel is required, including overnight absences.
