These roles range from short term contracts (3 months) to long term contracts (12 months or more), as well as permanent s26 transfer positions. It is very common for high performing contracting candidates to receive repeated extensions on their contracts or secure permanency in the APS.With a range of positions regularly available, we are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates due to placing a large majority of our active and registered candidates.In the current market, the majority of our government clients are looking to fill salaried non-ongoing contracts (also known as fixed term contracts). However, we still have a small number of labour hire contracts available.Our client base is focused primarily in the ACT region and requires candidates to be present in their Canberra office for at least a portion of the week, thus we are only seeking candidates located in Canberra.The RoleThe responsibilities of each position will vary, but as a Procurement Officer in government, you will be required to:Work with business areas to undertake their procurement and contract management activities that enhance opportunities for collaboration, supplier innovation and service delivery improvements.Assist in driving value for money outcomes through compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks.Manage hands-on procurement and contract management processes from end to end.Maintain an understanding of the Procurement Policy Framework and other financial policies, procedures and guidelines to which the team operates.Your Background and ExperienceGiven the requirements of our clients, we are looking for candidates that already have established experience in procurement and/or contract management in a government environment (Commonwealth).To be successful as a Procurement or Contract Management Officer, you will typically have:An understanding of the PGPA Act and CPRs.The ability to prioritise work tasks effectively within a dynamic and fast paced environment.Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including minutes, reports and other complex correspondence.A strong procurement and/or contract management candidate will often have a Cert IV in Procurement and Contract Management.To be eligible to work in federal government, you must be an Australian citizen, be willing to undergo a police check and have a Baseline security clearance.Salary / RateSalaries will be dependent on the enterprise agreement of the government department/agency.
