We have an opportunity for a Lead Specialist Mining Technical Support to join our Corporate Technical team in a dynamic, international environment. This position was created through our recent operating model update to build on the global nature and impact of our business.
Reporting to the Principal Engineer: Business Processes & Projects, the primary purpose of the role is to provide support in the establishment and delivery of Discipline Development Groups (DDGs) for both Mining and Long-term Planning for the Gold Fields Group. The objectives of these DDG's are to systematically advance the discipline across assets in the areas of Risk Management, Systems and Processes, People, Culture and Capability, and Operational Effectiveness.
In addition, the role will also contribute to and influence the business via provision of support, advice, and project management on behalf of Group Technical in the areas of business process design, process facilitation, process integration, standards development, and group reporting.

This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis and will require global site travel to support our global projects and operations. About the role: Support the Discipline Development Groups (DDGs) for Mining and Long-term Planning, liaising with Senior Managers, Mining Managers, and Technical Services Managers at all assets.Provide technical support for Business Processes to assets and disciplines, within area of expertise.Facilitate and improve design of monthly and quarterly processes for Mining and Long-Term planning to deliver Operational Efficiency assurance (Level 2).Facilitate and improve the Spatial Compliance to Plan quarterly reporting system and process.Support the development of standards for Group Technical Mining discipline, including standards for Business Planning, Asset Design Optimisation Criteria (ADOC), and Mineral Reserves.Support the design and establishment of processes, systems and standards for benchmarking as a service. Provide quarterly cost and productivity benchmarking and analysis, including delivery of quarterly external benchmarking reports.Undertake performance data analysis, mining study reviews, and other independent assurance projects as required.Foster a collaborative environment to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery.Mentor and train relevant mining personnel across the group regarding core mining technical disciplines.About you: Extensive exposure to operations and technical leadership in gold mining.Possess a relevant bachelor's degree in mining engineering or equivalent qualification in Mining related discipline.Proven track record in designing and administrating mine planning systems or production systems.Project management skills and knowledge essential.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in an accessible manner.Strong technical writing skills, and ability to draw conclusions from abstract or varied data sources.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.High levels of resilience and determination with ability to lead innovative solutions.We work across geographies, with diverse teams and cultures.
