About the role This is a senior academic leadership role, which includes a 5-year secondment with the NICM Health Research Institute, followed by an ongoing position with the School of Science.
For the first five years, you will be based at NICM (Westmead), where you will play a pivotal role in expanding product research and development and manufacturing efforts, as well as lead the School and Institutes' pharmacology/pharmaceutical science programs.
You will also oversee a suite of short courses and micro-credentials covering Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), herbal plantation, Good Agriculture and Collection Practice (GACP), and regulatory frameworks and drug registration.
While the secondment is with NICM, your substantive position will remain with the School of Science (at Campbelltown), and you will work closely with both teams from day one.
The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking, contemporary, and innovative leader who excels in both research and teaching and can drive excellence in both settings.
As a Level E (Professor) appointee, you will have a key role in maintaining academic standards, shaping educational policies, and contributing to the strategic directions of both the School and the University.
The successful candidate will have a distinguished research track record, expertise in teaching the pharmacology/pharmaceutical science curriculum, and experience in postgraduate research training.
About You The successful candidate for this role requires a PhD in pharmaceutical science or a related scientific discipline, should have a broad-based knowledge of pharmaceutical science, particularly in pharmacology, drug delivery, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)., extensive experience in quality teaching at the tertiary level is essential, including the ability to facilitate learning in both small and large groups and to utilise blended learning methods.
The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in curriculum and course development, as well as successful supervision of higher degree research students.
A strong research background with high-quality publications, experience in writing successful research grant proposals, and leading research teams is required.
Additionally, the candidate should have experience in governance and leadership roles, meaningful industry engagement, and partnership initiatives with medical science stakeholders.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively in or lead a team, are also necessary.
