The Project/Systems Engineering function in Ultra provides expertise to all projects through the bid and full development lifecycle. It ensures that both project and statutory requirements are met and works to improve the effectiveness of the systems design function within the company. It is responsible for the system architecture and integration of the solution. It is responsible for design for cost and design for manufacture.
Primary Responsibility
The Systems Engineering Manager is a functional leadership role responsible for managing people and their careers within Systems Engineering for Ultra Maritime Australia. The effort of this role may vary however on average should be less than 0.1 FTE.
Systems Engineering Managers will complete Systems Engineering tasks, including Project Leadership and Technical Execution, for the remainder of their time deployed on projects for Ultra Maritime Australia.
Key responsibilities will include:
To provide Systems Engineering functional leadership.
To ensure appropriate Systems Engineering personnel are available to work on customer funded projects, on internally funded projects such as Internal Research & Development (IRAD) and Bids & Proposals (B&P) initiatives, on overhead funded change initiatives and other emerging needs, plus other planned activities as necessary, balancing Systems Engineering priority of different requests.
Talent management and development of Systems Engineering personnel including hiring, retention, performance feedback, mentoring, talent management, career and development planning.
Identify, develop and implement new or updates to existing Systems Engineering policy, processes and procedures to meet current and emergent Systems Engineering requirements in line with Ultra Maritime initiatives as well as industry best practices.
Ensure the provision of required Systems Engineering tools and equipment to support Systems Engineering processes.
Support and provide input to the annual budgeting process for all facets of Systems Engineering including tools, training, continuous improvement, recruitment and retention.
Provide input to the Ultra Maritime’s technology roadmap development.
Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) activities to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Provide input to develop Ultra Maritime’s vision and strategic plan.
Promulgate Ultra Maritime vision, strategies, goals and initiatives.
Uphold, safeguard and promote Ultra Maritime’s values.
