How will I help?
Key role working on credit risk-weighted asset (RWA) methodology that is responsible for operating key controls, conducting investigations and data analysis, change management, embedding and strengthening the business-as-usual process, responding to stakeholder requirements and supporting RWA optimisation initiatives. RWA methodology covers both the advanced and standardised approaches.
In this role, you will become an expert go-to person on all aspects of credit RWA on an end-to-end basis, covering interpretations of the standards, the calculation systems and data. You will work closely with the Product Owner and Senior Manager in charge of the credit RWA calculators, along with a number of key stakeholders in the Deputy CRO team, divisional teams and project teams.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
• Conduct in-depth analysis of calculation system data and logic to enable a better understanding of the logic, address issues and respond to queries
• Drive the operation of key controls related to the calculators, including annual reviews, ongoing effectiveness reviews and change management
• Review bugs and change requests, and help develop solutions
• Conduct detailed data analysis and testing of system changes, product changes and projects that impact the RWA calculators.
• Uplift calculator documentation, operating model and governance framework
• Build relationships and engagement with key stakeholders across the Westpac Group (e.g broader Risk teams, divisional users, project teams) to drive outcomes.
• Identify opportunities for RWA optimisation, process improvements and simplification.

What do I need?
• Technical skills: Strong proficiency and experience in data analysis, SQL, SAS and Excel are essential.
• Regulatory / Industry Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of credit risk and Basel III RWA concepts preferred.
• Risk Management: Ability to identify risks and issues with respect to data and calculation processes, and ability to recommend action plans.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, working with internal stakeholders across multiple levels across the organisation.
• Continuous Improvement Mindset: Ability to continually challenge the status quo to develop improvements and simplifications to the calculation methodology and process.
• Proven Experience: 3+ years in data analytics, credit modelling, stress-testing or similar
