Rural Health West Vacancies – Port Hedland WA Permanent A full-time medical officer position is available with a very well-known retrieval medicine and flying doctor service in Western Australia.Join their team of rural practitioners in some of the most beautiful, remote, and untouched locations in the state.This position is based in Port Hedland, 1628kms from Perth, with a population of just over 15,200 people.The town is known for its resource industry, rich Indigenous culture, and stunning wildlife.This service needs experienced and empathetic doctors to provide a wide range of clinical services, including: Provision of routine and emergency medical advice to patients, nurses, and doctors in remote communities, nursing posts, and hospitals.Medical Retrieval - including taking emergency calls, authorising, and triaging evacuation requests, making comprehensive pre-flight clinical assessments, advising referring locations on resuscitation and preparation for transport.Undertaking aeromedical evacuation (retrieval) flights with a flight nurse as part of a medical retrieval team, directing flight nurses and patient management for nurse-only transfers.Telehealth - medical advice and treatment directives by telephone to patients, Medical Chest holders, paramedical and nursing staff in remote locations.Flying Clinics - routine fly-in fly-out general practice services to remote communities, including antenatal care, preventive health, and health education.Clinical coordination – Maintain ongoing communication with and advice to referring and receiving hospitals, provide clinical input into logistics involved in tasking of crews and triage.The Practice The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides aeromedical retrieval and inter-hospital transfer, Telehealth, and primary health care.The bases have an aircraft hangar, patient transfer and treatment area, and offices.The organisation's doctors, most of whom are full-time or job sharing, have significant experience in emergency and critical care medicine, anaesthetics, general medicine, and paediatrics.The practice team also includes full-time flight nurses (all with midwifery experience), pilots, and a Base Administrator.AGPAL and ACRRM accredited.The Requirements Requirements are for broadly experienced general practitioners with post-graduate experience (5-7 years) in clinical disciplines including: Registration with, or the ability to be registered with AHPRA as a medical practitioner.Significant experience in emergency medicine, anaesthesia, and acute paediatrics.Able to independently manage critically ill and injured patients, including procedural skills relevant to critical care medicine.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.The Package Average salary $370,000 plus superannuation.Long service leave, sabbatical leave, annual leave, personal leave.Heavily subsidised housing and vehicle.Salary packaging.Laptop and mobile phone included.Professional development available.#J-18808-Ljbffr
