HOPE has been a provider of community services in Western Australia for over 120 years, providing much needed support for people in the areas of alcohol and other drugs, mental health, justice and family and domestic violence.
About the Opportunity
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing Support to the finance function. This assistance can be in any area of the finance function but will mostly be around reporting and analysis, guided by the Finance Manager.
The role plays an integral part in the month end finance process and in the accounting audit; both the interim and final. The preparation of accurate schedules for budgeting and support documentation for review by the auditors also makes up a large part of this role.
Requirements of the Role:
* Assisting with the month end process
* Preparation of regular monthly journals
* Performing analysis of accounts as directed
* Assisting with the annual budget process and any subsequent forecasting as required
* Assisting with the acquittal of contracts as dictated by the funding body
* Assisting the Finance Team as needed across all areas of the accounting suite (excluding payroll)
* Providing feedback, as requested, on the development of systems as they impact onto the finance function and the organization as a whole
* To assist in the development of new accounting systems and processes and to contribute to their operation and implementation
* Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Finance Manager

Desirable criteria:
* Experience working in a Not-for-Profit Organisation

Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months), Working With Children card, Current C or A class driver's license, First Aid Certificate, and suitable work referees.
