Full-Time, Continuing Position for a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Sustainability & Urban PlanningSalary Academic Level B/C + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working ArrangementsBased at the city campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.About YouThe Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in the discipline of sustainable urban and regional planning and policy. More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program, research centre and broader discipline by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team and the Centre for Urban Research, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination.The Senior Lecturer will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School in the discipline of sustainable urban and regional planning and policy. The incumbent is to make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs and to be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional activities. The Senior Lecturer will develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the University's research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs. The Senior Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program, research centre and broader discipline by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Senior Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team and the Centre for Urban Research, including developing research partnerships and updating colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Senior Lecturer may have responsibility for program management.To be successful in this position, you'll have:Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver teaching programs in the urban planning discipline at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.Ability to undertake course coordination role.Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.Qualifications:Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant fieldDemonstrated ability to coordinate large courses and prepare and deliver teaching programs in the urban planning discipline at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.Ability to manage a large program or a number of small programs.Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.Emerging nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets.Extensive experience in research leadership with the ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes, attract and secure external research funding to sustain research effort and manage funded research projects including complex budgets and reporting requirements.Extensive experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance.Demonstrated ability to manage academic program team, supporting scholarly development of less experienced academic staff.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a university.Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, produce executive reports, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment.Qualifications:Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field#J-18808-Ljbffr
