The Opportunity
Water Technology is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer (Waterway Management / Rehabilitation) to join our national Waterways and Ecology team.

We have offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle, Wangaratta (Vic), Geelong and Armidale. The location for this position will be at one of our offices around Australia.
The role
In this role you will deliver a diverse array of waterway management projects for a variety of government clients such as NRM agencies, as well as private organisations.
You will have the opportunity to:
* Lead and conduct desktop and field-based waterway investigations.
* Produce expert advice, high quality design solutions and reporting for clients.
* Undertake stakeholder management internally & externally.
* Supervise and mentor others in the business.
* Utilise your established contacts & networks for business development.
* Develop proposals for future projects.
* Manage your own projects with support from other teams as needed.
You will join a close-knit team of industry professionals, where staff are valued and an open, innovative, and supportive culture is encouraged.
This is a permanent full-time role, but we are open to discussing 4 days per week (PT, pro-rata for the right candidate).
About You
As an established or emerging leader, you will ideally possess:
* Degree qualification (Engineering) with 7+ years’ relevant experience, preferably within a consulting environment.
* Demonstrated waterway design skills, including knowledge of software such as 12D, CAD and GIS software.
* Comprehensive knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, waterway processes and implications for design, including experience using design analysis software such as CHUTE, RIPRAP.
* Understanding of the application of nature-based solutions e.g. log jams, pile fields etc.
* Knowledge of fluvial geomorphology and ecological concepts, and other waterway related disciplines would be highly regarded.
* Leadership/mentoring experience.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
* Strong project management skills.
* Working knowledge of relevant waterway legislation.
* Technical credentials for an engineering professional and/or willingness to obtain credentials e.g. being chartered or registered.
* Drivers licence.
