In this role, you will be responsible for:
Perform the function of the Project Electrical Engineering SME within the field of electrical generation systems, electrical distribution systems, power conversion systems, battery and electrical energy storage systems.
Undertake Design Reviews, supporting Design Acceptance and Technical Certification of the Electrical Systems within the vessels of the LAND 8710 program.
Support the development of key documentation within the Authorised Engineering Organisation under the Principal Engineer (e.g. Engineering management Plan, Technical Certification Plan).
Review, comment and Approval of engineering deliverables within their delegation (primarily related to the electrical system and other technical areas).
Identify any technical risks and develop technical risk assessments for the consideration of the LAND 8710 Principal Engineer.
Work with the System Safety team to identify any hazards resident within the electrical system design and characterise the risks associated with these hazards.
Participate in technical tender evaluation activities as required.
The engineer will support the management of requirements, engineering baselines, undertake stakeholder discussions, review ILS documentation, review technical reports and review V&V documentation as required.
Development of subordinate staff knowledge and skills within the Engineering Services team to ensure knowledge and know-how within the Program.
About you:
NV1 Security Clearance;
Minimum five years’ experience in an Acquisition or Shipbuilding position or previous experience relevant to position.
Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable discipline.
Suitable experience within either the design or design review of Classification Society based maritime electrical systems (previously held Defence delegations within the Maritime domain is a strong point).
Chartered engineer with Engineers Australia or equivalent.
Experience in Defence Acquisition or Sustainment Projects (desirable).
Previously held technical delegations (desirable).
