About this role About the team Our Corporate Tax team provides tailored advice and insights for every aspect of the corporate tax process, helping our clients to manage business-specific tax challenges such as tax audits, international tax issues, corporate governance obligations, and mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and deal structuring.
Within this service line, the Grant Thornton Financial Services practice assists clients in staying ahead of change in this rapidly evolving environment, with regulatory change impacting every part of the sector: with governance, system, performance and conduct all under the spotlight.

This role can be based from any of our GT offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney.
Working as part of an established, highly knowledgeable and supportive team to deliver an exceptional experience for financial services clients – from banks, private equity and funds managers to insurance providers – you will advise on a wide range of matters relating to the Australian taxation regime.
Key responsibilities Preparation and review of company and trust tax returns for a wide range of large financial services clientsResearch and assistance with tax consulting advice (such as tax consolidation, tax treaties, hybrid mismatches, Controlled Foreign Companies, withholding taxes, thin capitalisation, permanent establishments, AMITs etc)Assist clients with M&A activities, including tax structuring and tax due diligence servicesResearch and assist with preparing advice and calculations in connection with international tax issuesAssist clients with ATO reviews, governance matters and auditsWork with the ATO to obtain rulings for clientsResearch and analyse technical tax issues and preparation of tax reportsAssist with business development initiatives and proposalsSkills and experience University degree in a related discipline, such as Accounting / Finance, Business / Commerce, Legal and / or relevant professional qualification(s)Significant corporate tax professional services experience working with financial services clientsGood understanding of taxation of entities in Australia and basic understanding of taxesUnderstanding of basic tax effect accounting calculations to determine tax liabilitiesAnalytical skills and an inquisitive mindset, with a desire to deeply understand clients' businesses, challenges and confident in applying knowledge to routine mattersPrevious experience assisting and coaching less experienced team membersDemonstrable strong work ethic and commitment to excellent client serviceIf you're interested in this role but don't feel that you match every single one of our requirements, we would still love to hear from you and explore the unique skillset and attributes that you can bring to the team.
