At Busy Bees Lara, a 103-place service, you’ll find a warm and nurturing learning environment and inspiring learning opportunities for children aged birth to 5 years. Located 15 minutes from the Avalon Domestic terminal, we have strong community connections with our local Lara fire brigade, library and nursing home, which provides unique learning opportunities.
Our Service is on the lookout for a passionate Chef /Cook with the ability to cater for children with all dietary requirements to join their service. Essential Qualifications and Licences
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent culinary qualifications or experience).
* A current and valid Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one.
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
* Current and valid Australian Work Rights
Desirable skills, experience and knowledge
* Skilled in preparing balanced, nutritious meals that meet young children's developmental needs and dietary guidelines.
* Experienced in creating rotating menus catering to diverse needs, including allergies and specific dietary requirements (e.g., gluten-free, dairy-free, halal).
* Committed to food safety, hygiene protocols, and budget management when ordering food and supplies.
* Knowledgeable in preparing culturally diverse meals that enrich children’s learning experiences.
* Familiar with sustainable food practices, including waste reduction and sourcing local ingredients.
