Job description
We are looking to recruit a Principal Civil Designer for a well-established engineering, design and project management consultancy based in the Gold Coast.
Our client has successfully delivered projects across a variety of sectors including Roads, Water, Land Development and Mining. They have a strong long-standing relationship with key clients in both the government and private sectors, across Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will lead and manage the design of civil infrastructure projects from concept to completion. Working closely with engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders, you will ensure the successful delivery of high-quality designs that meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
• Lead the civil design process for a wide range of infrastructure projects including roads, subdivisions, drainage, and water infrastructure.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed design documentation, plans, and drawings using software such as 12D, AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are integrated and aligned with project goals.
• Mentor and guide junior designers and drafters, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure project objectives are met.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of designs.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
About You:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in civil design, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in 12D, AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
• Strong understanding of Australian design standards and guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• A passion for innovation and continuous improvement in civil design practices.
• Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role is highly desirable.
