About the Role
We are seeking a Resource Planner to join our team. This role is Perth based and reports to our WA Operations Manager. As our Resource Planner, you will be responsible for end-to-end logistics planning of assigned zone(s). This includes scheduling of rail services and rostering labour to execute those schedules. This position will also assist key stakeholders within Operations, Logistics and relevant management with day-to-day zone logistics planning with an emphasis on customer service.
You will need the ability to :
* Prepare Rail Train Crew (RTC) rosters and ensure they are in line with rostering principles and meet Enterprise Agreement conditions.
* With support from the Human Resources (HR) team, review, understand and interpret current and future Enterprise Agreement conditions.
* Ensure rosters and any subsequent roster changes are communicated in line with Enterprise Agreement timeframes and communicated to all the appropriate team members.
* Create and ensure the implementation of annual leave rosters for each area.
* Responsible for ensuring that only competent Team Members with the appropriate operational knowledge including route knowledge, traction and train knowledge are placed on the roster.
* Assist team members and management with payroll, personal and benefit information and reports.
* Ensure accurate and finalised fortnightly rosters are completed within Watco’s Rostering Management System (WRMS) and advice is provided to the payroll team ready to enable timely payroll processing.
* Ability to make independent judgments using sound reasoning skills and knowledge.
* Assist key personnel as required in taking prompt action to resolve any logistics / transportation problems while in transit, liaising with Operations teams, ARC and relevant Watco management and any other third parties.
* Assist where needed with the development and production of logistics strategies, policies and plans and maintain scheduling plans to track all transportation movement.
* Assist with analysis of and report preparation on any problems encountered resulting in delay in transportation scheduling.
* Provide logistics related data and information to management, other divisions where applicable.
* Effective communication with co-workers, yard personnel, shunting crew, drivers, railway management and others in a clear, concise, courteous, efficient and professional manner.
What you will bring :
* Previous job-related experience (rail preferred), minimum four (4) years.
* Experience in monitoring and creating weekly and fortnightly rosters for crew in accordance with company guidelines and fatigue management policy.
* Possess and / or acquire sufficient experience or equivalent working knowledge and understanding of railway operations.
* Knowledge of and / or acquire the skills in applying basic guidelines, company rules and procedures.
* Possess strong verbal, written, and oral communication skills.
* Strong organisational and administration skills.
* Ability to work under intense conditions including demanding timelines and levels of precision in work.
