The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About The Role
We are seeking a permanent full-time Support Worker to join our AOD team in Mt. Isa, Qld. Reporting to the AOD Team Leader you will be responsible for providing effective service delivery, assessment and referral, education and support are provided in accordance with The Salvation Army guidelines (within a comprehensive participant-led, recovery-based framework). Salary in accordance with SCHADS Level 3 Award .
You will successfully
* Provide an empathetic initial welcome to participants with urgent and immediate needs addressed
* Facilitation of daily activities and programs
* Promote self-determination and participation
* Encourage the implementation of case plans
* Develop activity risk assessments and mitigation strategies
* Assist participants with medication as required
You will have
* Minimum of Diploma level qualification in AOD or a relevant discipline
* Previous experience in relevant industry
* A current Working with Children check
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with participants
