Advance your career by joining one of the most diverse public sector organisations in Western Australia.About the roleThe Consultant Psychiatrist performs the functions of a prison medical officer in accordance with the Prisons Act 1981 and is responsible for psychiatric assessment, treatment, physical welfare and medical and psychiatric care for allocated patients within WA correctional facilities.The Consultant Psychiatrist supports the operational management, development, and delivery of integrated best practice prison mental health services and provides clinical expertise to the Director Health Services, Director Medical Services, and the Clinical Governance Advisory Committee (CGAC) on matters related to mental health services. The position is accountable for recommending evidence-based improvements, clinical standards, and considering best practice to achieve improved mental health outcomes and efficiencies as appropriate.The Consultant Psychiatrist provides clinical input to mental health care operations as well as providing clinical input on mental health needs analysis delivered by health operations and reviewing and recommending medical standards, clinical standards (including drug regimes), and evidence-based clinical improvements to the CGAC.
