Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) is a world-class, industry-owned and privately-funded terminal located at the Port of Gladstone. This modern, state-of-the-art terminal was built to expand the region's coal export capacity, becoming operational in 2016. WICET is a $4 billion investment which operates with a high degree of automation and is committed to operating in a safe, environmentally friendly and socially responsible manner.
The Systems Engineer is a key part of our Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) team and supports the technical operation and maintenance of core infrastructure, monitoring, management and cyber security systems at WICET.
In this role, you'll provide technical expertise and operational support across the infrastructure portfolio including:
Servers (physical and virtual hypervisor).Networking (LAN, WAN, Firewall, Wireless).Storage (SAN) equipment.Monitoring, management and security systems including forward proxy servers, load balancers, virtual desktop software, software deployment and patching, backup & recovery, web and content filtering, XDR, remote access, Microsoft Active Directory, Entra, SQL, Sharepoint, Teams and 365 services.Typical expectations of this role include activities such as:
Responding to incidents and requests in a timely manner.Escalation of incidents to other parties (internal and external).Provisioning user access requests to systems and data, security permissions and policies.Installing and configuring infrastructure hardware and related software components.Planning, reviewing and completing technical changes to systems and hardware components.Monitoring vendor support sites for the availability of firmware/software updates/patches/fixes; planning and executing change processes to update software.Monitoring usage and ensuring ongoing compliance with software license obligations.Maintaining system and data backups and support recovery activities.Monitoring system availability, security and performance metrics; taking preventative action to reduce likelihood of service disruption.Supporting the investigation and resolution of cyber security and business disruption incidents.As part of our internal IS&T team, you'll be working collaboratively with others to support technology for our terminal and office locations. This role reports to the IS&T Lead.
We are open to candidates based in either Gladstone or Brisbane. Brisbane-based candidates are expected to travel to Gladstone (at least once per month).
As our ideal candidate, you'll bring the following capabilities and competencies:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field plus minimum three years' work in an infrastructure operations or equivalent role.Experience operating in an ITIL-based service model and using service desk software.Direct, hands-on experience maintaining and supporting infrastructure components including servers (physical and virtual hypervisor), networking (LAN, WAN, Firewall, Wireless), and storage (SAN) equipment.Direct, hands-on experience maintaining and supporting core IS&T monitoring, management and security systems including forward proxy servers, load balancers, virtual desktop software, software deployment and patching tools, backup & recovery, web and content filtering, XDR, remote access, Microsoft Active Directory, Entra, SQL, Sharepoint, Teams and 365 services.Identify risk (impact and likelihood) and make recommendations for controls.Commercial acumen: understanding of vendor service levels and responsibilities to ensure high quality and timely support.ITIL Foundations Certification.Cyber Security certification (e.g. CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CCSP).WICET is an equal opportunity employer and aims to recruit a diverse workforce to help us achieve our goals.
