Principal Engineer – Process Development & SimulationWeir Minerals - Division TechnologyAustralia or the NetherlandsHybridThe global Weir Technology and Process Innovation team brings new-to-Weir and new-to-mining flow sheets, product concepts, and technologies to benefit our customers. Within this team, the Principal Engineer – Process Development & Simulation is responsible for mineral processing development and simulation across a number of commodities and processes including comminution, mill circuit, separation/flotation, and tailings management. This person will use simulation to evaluate and improve equipment and flowsheet performance. The role will also evaluate new technology (from both internal and external innovation) and provide process simulation support globally.This role will include flowsheet development, process innovation, survey support, laboratory testing support and data evaluation, and process simulation using tools like JKSimMet, IES, Aggflow and other in-house tools, industry methods, and applications.Key Responsibilities:Liase with customers and internal teams on minerals processing development, testing, and innovation.Support of Weir Technology Centers including the Venlo Test Center (Netherlands) and the Weir Technical Centre (Melbourne).Occasional support of site-based piloting and survey campaigns.Mass balancing, model fitting, and simulation of improvements of the customers process with new or revised equipment, flow sheets, and operations.Develop reports on results, evaluate and provide recommendations for improvements, and present these to internal stakeholders and customers.Collaborate with sales, product managers, product specialists, engineering, technology groups and other stakeholders.Act as a mentor to other engineers in the region and division.Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:Degree or Master's in Engineering – Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering (minerals processing) or related discipline.PhD in minerals processing or related field would be advantageous.Chartered registered engineer is desired.At least 10 - 15 years’ equivalent work experience in similar role in mineral processing equipment and systems.Proven process simulation expertise.A proven ability to carry out process engineering and develop related deliverables such as P&IDs, PFDs, test plans, etc.Experience of laboratory and pilot plant investigations in the mineral processing industry.Weir is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace.
