Position Summary
The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the Society premises and Society-owned and managed properties. The Cleaner ensures that all areas, including bathrooms, communal areas, and staff facilities, are clean, tidy, and welcoming. The Cleaner will work closely with the Housing and Community Services team to ensure a pleasant and comfortable environment for all residents and guests.
Key Accountabilities
* Complete daily cleaning tasks as per roster to a high standard.
* Clean and sanitise bathrooms, common areas, communal kitchens and staff rooms.
* Complete vacate cleans to a high standard.
* Ensure all surfaces, floors, windows, and furniture are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
* Remove rubbish ensuring proper disposal and adherence to waste management policies.
* Maintain adequate stock of required toiletry and cleaning products.
* Replenish supplies such as toiletries, laundry powder, and cleaning products.
* Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
* Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the line manager immediately.
* Responsible for ensuring all Society equipment is maintained in good repair.
* Complete cleaning checklists and documentation as required.
* Communicate effectively with the line manager and other staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ensure all documentation is accurately completed and stored electronically as required.
* Ensure compliance with all workplace policies and procedures and ensure that safe work practices are always upheld and promoted.
* Contribute to the ongoing process of continual improvement and effective teamwork.
* Actively participate in staff training and development.
* Acknowledge that throughout the course of employment, employees may be requested to work at different Society locations due to operation requirements.
* Understand that duties and responsibilities identified in the position descriptions are an overview of expectations at the time the document is developed, and the position may mature throughout the employee relationship including the duties and responsibilities required to be performed.
* Some weekend and out of hours’ work may be required.
* Ensure National Police Check, Northern Territory driver’s license and Working with Children Clearance, are valid and a current copy is provided to head office to be kept on file.
* Comply with mandated Vaccination Requirements pertaining to the workplace.
* Perform all other duties as required.
Qualifications
* Hold a current Northern Territory C class licence (able to drive a manual vehicle preferred).
* Experience in cleaning in large facilities, including making work schedules and ordering supplies.
* Excellent time management skills with ability to work independently.
* Physical ability to do cleaning tasks and use cleaning tools, following safe practices.
* Ability to show initiative, reliability, and punctuality, and to keep things confidential while being a good team member.
* Understanding of hygiene, infection control, and workplace health and safety (WHS) principles.
* Demonstrated genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation.
* Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
* Ability to work within the philosophy of the Society and in accordance with policy and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society.
