Overview
As a senior member of the paediatric team, you will provide clinical expertise in the Department of Paediatrics at the Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service. This will include oversight and management of children in the Emergency Department, inpatients, neonatal nursery and outpatients, and community consultations. You will oversee the Child Development Unit and mandated child protection responsibilities. As part of your role, you will supervise the clinical practice of General Practice paediatricians and junior medical staff, as well as undertaking active engagement in the education of all health staff affiliated with the service. You will contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement activities including clinical audit and morbidity and mortality review. It is expected that you will actively take part in continuing education activities. You will have Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians - Paediatric Medicine, or an equivalent specialist qualification suitable for supervision of trainees of that College and must hold current AHPRA Registration. You will have sound knowledge of contemporary paediatric practice and procedures, and demonstrate skills in the investigation and care of paediatric patients. With the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, you will possess high level skills in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level.
Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
