Job Description
As a graduate System Engineer, you will be working in a team environment to provide high quality technical and operational support for mission critical ICT and Radio systems. In this role, you are expected to ensure service level and operational key performance measures are met on an ongoing basis. This role will involve being an ‘all rounder’ and be willing to learn new and proprietary technologies ‘on the go’. The successful candidate should have a ‘can do’ attitude and be able to think on their feet.
You will gain experience managing new and innovative System solutions, applications and processes. As a graduate, you will be given the opportunity to learn and develop new skills including access to Motorola labs and testing facilities.
Responsibilities include:
1. Support the design verification of public safety communication solutions.
2. Develop test automation systems and software development
3. Review functionality and design, create and execute testing, highlighting any issues encountered and opportunities for improvement.
4. Create testing documentation and run test scripts based on customer requirements for both ongoing and new projects and solutions.
5. Conduct investigations across the full product life cycle, including user acceptance testing.
6. Provide technical expertise supporting the design and enhancements to the Motorola Solutions Customer networks across ANZ region.
7. Develop strategies to support testing and verification activities for national/regional projects.
8. Design novel solutions to complex network and customer coverage problems, including verification requirements.
9. Engage with and provide technical detail direct to suppliers or third parties on any issues encountered and influence design changes.
10. Develop and verify network performance and coverage testing for Airwave tools. Develop performance management data to improve network performance and enhance the service offering to Airwave customers.
11. Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams including Product managers, Project Managers, Solution Architects, Technical design Authorities and third party suppliers in both face to face meetings and written formats.
12. Providing technical expertise to support a wide range of BAU and project-related activities, including support for international ventures.
13. Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies or new products that could be exploited to reduce cost or increase performance or reliability.
14. Work closely with a Senior or Principle Engineers on customer deliverable projects to acquire technical knowledge and experience best practice procedures.
15. Attend regular project review meetings and ad hoc development meetings
Basic Requirements
16. Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, Telecommunications or related subject - Essential
17. Experience working with IP Networks and RF systems (i.e. coursework/projects, research, internships, or other practical experience outside of schoolwork (including hobbies).
18. A genuine interest in IT, software development, communications and emerging technologies and how they can be used to maximise an organisations potential and improve the customer experience.
19. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gain trust, build rapport and influence others.
20. Working proficiency in verbal and written English
Preferred qualifications
21. Knowledge of IT Infrastructure either via course work or practical experience
22. Industry certification is desirable but not mandatory (IP Networking, RF and Communication Systems, IT System Administration etc)
23. Sound understanding of digital communications systems, software development, and IT systems particularly mobile / cellular radio networks.
24. The desire to develop software and test new applications and solutions which will greatly enhance the operation of emergency services users.
