We believe our people are the reason for our success, and in return, we recognise and reward efforts and loyalty.We are recruiting a Management Accountant who will be instrumental in ensuring the financial stability, compliance and careful management of two of Emergent Group’s companies – Novecom (based in Newcastle NSW) and Acubis Technologies (based in Mackay QLD).You will create reliable, accurate and timely financial reports and work closely with the Emergent Group Managing Director, Acubis executive team and Novecom executive team to help drive financial performance. You will leverage your analytical skills and financial acumen to provide valuable insights and recommendations to improve financial performance, optimise resource allocation, and support sound decision-making.You will collaborate with your fellow Management Accountant – Advitech and Emergent Group to ensure consistent practices across Emergent Group and provide backup coverage to ensure uninterrupted service provision. The role will be based in Newcastle and requires some travel to Mackay (4-6 times per year).ResponsibilitiesMonthly Accounting – overall responsibility for month-end processes for Acubis and Novecom, including: Define procedures and schedule for month-end processes and collaborate closely with the accounts team to ensure processes are defined and followed. Ensure all month-end accounting processes and reconciliations are completed to a high standard. Prepare financial reports and deliver to the executive team in a timely manner. Attend monthly board meetings to present and review financial results. Complete regulatory tasks including BAS and preparation of data for tax returns. Lead the continuous improvement of monthly financial report content including development of new reports. Provide troubleshooting and support for staff across the business in the ERP system (Business Central). Backup coverage for the management accountant of other Emergent Group businesses to ensure uninterrupted financial management and reporting during periods of leave. Planning - forecast, analyse, review and communicate the achievement of financial targets, such as: Establish an accurate forecasting system and clearly communicate performance progress and variations in forecasts to targets. Track and manage actions. Effectively coordinate planning tasks, functions and roles. Distil complex financial analysis into simple business choices which are easily understood and actionable. Regularly review the achievement of targets for strategic goals and KPIs. Assist leaders to align business resources to achieve Emergent Group and subsidiary strategic goals. Ensure all team leaders are provided with their team performance reports. Identify and clearly communicate key risks and opportunities. Proactively elevate strategic or high-risk operational issues to the executive team. Express a point of view and guide decision making by teaching business leaders the financial implication of their decisions. Monitor decision implementation. Project Support - Facilitate timely, accurate, low cost and high quality project delivery by effectively integrating financial services with business operations; including: Establish a project financial management system for Acubis and Novecom to ensure projects have clear financial targets and timely and useful project accounting and reporting. Support project managers in their understanding of financial reports and attainment of project financial targets. Provide insights and analysis to support inventory management, cost management and product pricing strategies. General Uphold, comply with, and champion Emergent Group’s vision, values, policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge of legal obligations relating to our finance practices. Monitor financial systems to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legal obligations. Display a positive attitude and develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Undertake any other tasks, duties or specific projects within your area of skills and expertise, as required. Essential A degree in accounting or related area. Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or equivalent. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a management accounting or similar role. Strong technical skills including the proven ability to verify information for accuracy and relevance, interrogate data and communicate results effectively. Technology savvy with the ability to develop expertise in new software systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills that will enable you to build strong, positive relationships with a range of stakeholders across Emergent Group (including remote team based in Mackay). Experience developing and enhancing systems and processes (and a process-driven mindset). Ability to work effectively under pressure without compromising on quality. Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and show initiative. The ability to monitor all aspects of the financial systems to ensure adherence to policies, procedures and legal obligations. Experience in large complex documents with advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Willingness and flexibility to undertake occasional interstate travel. Desirable Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. Experience in report writing using tools such as Jet Reports.
