General Description (a) Work involves remove and replacing or installation of roofing and wall cladding materials and rainwater goods. (b) Assignments are received through oral instructions prior to and during the progress of a job. (c) Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion. Duties and Responsibilities Remove old roofs, install insulation, install new roofing materials, wall cladding, flashings and necessary rainwater goods; This involves: Determination of suitable materials for installation; Studying drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures Ordering and selecting materials and preparing layouts. Erecting framework, roof framing and verifying trueness of structures. Sheathing roofs and fitting external wall cladding. The ability to liaise with project managers as required and supervisors as required; Following all Health and Safety Legislation requirements and clients policies; Clean and maintain equipment at the job site; Other work as required; Attend training as and when required. Education and Experience Graduation from a standard vocational or high school and experience in roofing/labouring operations; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Hold all necessary licenses (where relevant) for the trade Knowledge, Skills and Abilities that you will obtain through working in the position or already have: Considerable knowledge of various roofing materials, their uses and methods of application in relation to roof removals, repairs and installations, along with the ability to practically implement this knowledge. Skilled in the use of appropriate tools and equipment and the capability to determing the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Knowledge of design techniques and the ability to read, interpret and implement plans, drawings. Ability to make adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions. Ability to perform work safely at heights, on flat and inclined surfaces, including working on roofs, climbing ladders, using elevated work platforms and wearing appropriate PPE. Hold the necessary license and/or have the necessary knowledge and skills to operate various tools and machines as required on site, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair and maintenance requirements. Ability to erect scaffolding up to 4 meters in height. Ability to clearly understand and deliver oral and written instructions in English to various stakeholders on site. Maintain good housekeeping, including keeping the job site clean to minimise and possible hazards. Some knowledge of the composition, structure, and properties of hazardous substances and of the chemical processes/transformations that they undergo. The uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods. Knowledge of, and ability to follow, all applicable Australian laws (including Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Standards), in addition to following all company policies and procedures, to ensure the safety and protection of people, data and property.
