You will collaborate with the Third-Party Recoveries & Settlements leadership team and General Manager to lead a team of managers, team leaders and claims consultants.
Together, you'll drive cost-effective claim outcomes for the business while delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Key Accountabilities Manage the day-to-day operations of the Third-Party Recoveries & Settlements teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, compliance with regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement through performance monitoring and data-driven insights Play a key role in shaping the department's direction, translating the corporate strategy into actionable plans and developing aligned strategies that drive success Motivate and inspire the Recoveries & Settlements teams, setting clear expectations, providing guidance and support and fostering a culture of high performance and integrity Drive operational excellence through optimisation, automation and implementing innovative solutions Adapt to change in an environment of evolving regulations, market trends and customer needs, ensuring the business remains agile and responsive Champion and implement change initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring the team feels supported and empowered through the process Manage budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation Proactively identify and assess risks, developing strategies to mitigate them and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Track key metrics, identify opportunities for improvement and produce reports to senior management on performance, highlighting key trends and making recommendations for future actions Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment What experience you'll bring: Experience in a similar level role with extensive experience in insurance claims, and a strong working knowledge of motor insurance claims management Proven ability to lead, inspire, and empower large operational teams, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment Deep understanding of applicable legislation, processes, industry best practices, and compliance & risk within general insurance Strong systems thinker with the ability to drive execution excellence through data-driven insights, process optimisation, and innovation Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage, influence, and develop others.
Understanding of the linkage between data and emerging technology solutions to optimise business performance and outcomes.

The key success criteria for the role includes: The role will be accountable for the operational performance of the Settlements business areas which will be measured with key operational metrics such as settlement rate, average cost split by repair, total loss, hire car, average age, and legal spend.
The manager will need to keep abreast of industry trends relating to credit hire practices and develop strategies to mitigate risk for our business.
Specifically the role is accountable for: Managing the settlements costpool of $158m and ~100 FTE Minimisation of claims leakage Resolution of disputes and complaints related to insurance claims settlements Communication with stakeholders, such as lawyers and other insurance professionals Development and implementation of strategies to streamline the claims settlement process and improve efficiency, ensuring commercial acumen is applied in all decisions Collaboration with the Optimisation team to implement and embed decision engine and automation to support claims management Adherence to regulatory and compliance obligations.
