Aboriginal Family Time Worker
This is an exciting opportunity to support DCJ in building a dedicated workforce for supervising family time.
Your Role
* Supervise and support family time visits between children and young people in out-of-home care and their families.
* Evaluate the safety and well-being of children during these visits, transport them to various locations, and communicate effectively with everyone.
* Record observations, provide basic coaching to parents, and maintain accurate documentation in line with DCJ policies.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the safety and well-being of children during family time visits.
* Communicate effectively with children, young people, families, and carers in a culturally sensitive manner.
* Transport children, young people, and occasionally parents or carers to various locations, including family time visits.
* Record observations and prepare documentation following supervised visits, ensuring accuracy and adherence to DCJ guidelines.
What We're Looking For
* Effective Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with children, young people, and families.
* Cultural Competency: Demonstrated understanding and respect for cultural diversity, including working with or supporting Aboriginal families.
* Organisational Skills: Strong skills in documentation and administrative tasks, with experience using relevant technology and maintaining accurate records.
Essential Requirements
* A current NSW driver's licence
* Working with Children Check clearance
* First aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one before commencing in role
Role Details
This is an identified position and only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons. The role may require some evening and weekend work.
