Senior Legal Counsel for Child Protection LitigationThe Senior Legal Counsel oversees the delivery of specialist legal services within the Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office (CPLO). This includes providing legal advice and representation to Child Protection teams across Victoria undertaking statutory functions under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005, as well as allied jurisdictions like parenting matters under the Family Law Act 1975 and review proceedings in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).The Senior Legal Counsel works closely with CPLO leadership and Child Protection teams throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria. They are responsible for coordinating legal advice and representation across divisional areas of service delivery throughout Victoria.The role involves working with Managing Principal Solicitors to manage complex interim matters and in contested final hearings and appeals.This position requires travel to various locations to support CPLO staff, the department, and its clients.Main Responsibilities:Lead strategic and operational service delivery and planning.Support the Director by contributing to strategic decision-making and developing strategic frameworks for Child Protection litigation.Provide high-quality, client-focused, and cost-effective legal services in complex child protection matters.How to Apply:All applicants must apply through the Jobs and Skills Exchange portal.
