Our vision is to proudly connect people, products and solutions for the benefit of all Tasmanians.With 99% of the State’s freight moving through our multi-port system, TasPorts facilitates vital trade to enable industry partners and communities while ensuring the highest environmental and safety standards.The roleReporting to the Manager Fleet, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Fleet Superintendent to ensure the effective technical management of the TasPorts marine fleet.This is a permanent, full-time position based in Launceston.Key Responsibilities include:Assist the Manager Fleet in ensuring that TasPorts fleet of tugs and other floating plant are effectively and efficiently maintained to ensure maximum availability and reliability through integrity of fleet condition data, development of fleet maintenance plans, inspection regimes, prioritised periodic maintenance and docking programs.Reduce overall lifecycle costs through the development, documentation and implementation of assessment, monitoring and computerised maintenance systems.Co-ordinate, maintain and implement condition-based monitoring practices across the fleet.Provide input to allow high levels of governance of routine and major fleet maintenance and building projects including CAPEX and OPEX input.Review and implement obsolescence management strategies for critical equipment and systems.Provide the fleet with guidance and oversight of acquisition of equipment, spares and consumables for the fleet.Lead or assist with management of special projects including vessel acquisition and divestment projects, technical direction relating to operational projects, modifications and dry dockings as directed by the Manager Fleet.What you can bring to the role:Experience in developing, implementing and managing fleet maintenance and asset management systems.A knowledge of lifecycle costing philosophies, including the balance between scheduled and breakdown maintenance and the mechanisms to operate within both paradigms.A knowledge of tug vessels and experience in tug operations and the towage market in Oceania.Proven vessel dry docking management experience in a towage and/or maritime environment.Tertiary Marine Engineering qualifications e.g. Diploma of Marine Engineering, or Bachelor of Applied Science (Marine Engineering) or Bachelor of Technology (Marine Engineering), or relevant marine industry experience.Current Driver’s License (requirement to travel extensively across the state of Tasmania).Current, or ability to obtain an MSIC - Maritime Security Identification Card.More informationTasPorts offer a supportive and flexible work environment, professional development opportunities and a range of attractive employee benefits.
