Is climate response important to you?Data Analytics and Information Systems (DAIS) is a team of about 80 technical specialists, who discover, design, develop and deliver a complex and integrated suite of products and platforms enabling DEECA to plan, monitor and respond to Bushfires and other Emergencies.The Senior Software Engineer will develop and enhance application functionality for a range of software systems, including critical emergency management systems that are used across Victoria, supporting forest management and incident management teams, front line firefighters and volunteers to keep the community safe.Our ideal candidate will have a background in delivering significant emergency management systems technology and it would be advantageous if you have experience working with the emergency management sector. The Program aims to develop modern consolidated virtual platforms to manage DEECA's personnel emergency role profiles. The platforms will record and track the deployment of personnel and plant to events, including bushfires, biosecurity incidents, and other associated emergencies. The Program requires a highly skilled and experienced individual to work autonomously, to ensure a solid foundation for the solution, and future state, mitigating risks as they are raised.Specialist/Technical Expertise/QualificationsExperience in .Net Core, C#, Entity Framework Core, Azure SQL, REST APIs.Experience in cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS) specifically Azure Functions, App Services, Azure Service Bus and Blob Storage (or their AWS equivalent)Experience with HTML, Sass, Bootstrap, and modern frontend build tools (Webpack, ESLint, Prettier, etc.)Experience in source control tools (e.g., Git and GitHub) and practices (e.g. GitHub Flow), or similarHighly DesirableExperience in serverless, microservices and event-driven architecturesFamiliarity with developing Progressive Web Apps including using service workers for caching and offline usage, native web Notifications API, Push API and Web Storage APIFamiliarity with GIS and mapping technologies (ArcGIS or PostGIS, Leaflet library or similar)Familiarity with Xamarin for Android and iOS developmentFamiliarity with Python and data science packages including TensorFlow, NumPy, SciPy and PandasFamiliarity with UX mock-up tools such as Figma (or similar)Experience in CI/CD strategies and Terraform, particularly in Azure DevOps, or similarFamiliarity with GraphQLThis is a fixed term position available for a period of 2 years.
