The Bigger Picture At Andromeda Robotics, we’re not just imagining the future of human-robot relationships—we’re building it. As a pioneering social robotics startup, our mission is to revolutionise how humans connect with technology by introducing Abi, the world’s first empathetic companion robot. With a heart full of compassion and a spirit of kindness, Abi creates deep, meaningful connections with people, making the world a little warmer, a little brighter, and a lot more connected. Just like the beloved characters in your favourite stories, Abi is here to listen, understand, and share joyful moments. Your Role in the Action As a Senior Electronics Engineer at Andromeda Robotics, you’ll be the driving force behind Abi’s electronic design and development—from pioneering concept selection through to production-ready execution. You’ll set the strategic direction for sensor integration, power distribution, and embedded systems, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure each circuit meets uncompromising performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards. Beyond hands-on circuit analysis and PCB design, you’ll spearhead rigorous design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and refine processes for continuous improvement. By balancing big-picture vision with detail-oriented execution, you’ll shape how Abi embodies empathy, warmth, and meaningful connection—cementing Andromeda Robotics as a leader in the transformative world of social robotics. How You’ll Make an Impact Serve as a driving force in electronics system design, from concept to production, ensuring each circuit board fuels Abi’s empathetic interactions with unwavering reliability. Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and industrial design teams to seamlessly integrate sensors, power systems, and embedded platforms. Create schematic and PCB design using tools like Altium, championing best practices in power distribution, signal integrity, and manufacturability standards for robotics. Conduct in-depth circuit analysis and debugging to refine Abi’s performance and prepare her for real-world challenges. Ensure manufacturing readiness and quality assurance of the electrical system, ensuring designs transition smoothly to volume production and meet all compliance standards. Develop embedded firmware in C or Rust for microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs—iterating designs based on rigorous testing to deliver Abi’s heartfelt capabilities at the cutting edge of innovation. Mentor junior engineers through design reviews and knowledge-sharing, fostering a collaborative environment that sparks continuous improvement and cements Andromeda Robotics as a leader in social robotics. Requirements What We Are Looking For Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field 5 years of professional electronics engineering experience (beyond internships or co-ops), with proven expertise in both high-speed board design (PCIe, Ethernet, EtherCAT) and robust power regulation/distribution Proficiency with Altium (or equivalent) for schematic and PCB layout, demonstrating a meticulous approach to signal integrity, grounding, and manufacturability Comprehensive hands-on experience in circuit analysis, debugging, and validation—using oscilloscopes, power supplies, and simulation tools (e.g., LTspice) to deliver designs that meet the highest performance and reliability standards Familiarity with embedded programming (C, Rust, or equivalent), enabling efficient collaboration across firmware development, FPGA design, and microcontroller integration In-depth understanding of short-circuit protection, switching power supplies, and innovative power management methods for battery-driven and high-current systems Working knowledge of mechanical CAD (e.g., SolidWorks), illustrating the ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical and industrial designers on seamless system integration Proven track record of supporting manufacturing and supply chain processes—overseeing transition to volume production, driving design-for-manufacturability, and upholding compliance standards A passion for mentoring junior engineers, championing rigorous design reviews, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation Bonus Qualifications Demonstrated skill in camera electronics, MIPI interfaces, or advanced high-speed protocols (PCIe Gen4/5, USB4, 10G Ethernet) Experience designing compact boards (HDI, flex, rigid-flex) with an eye for precise form-factor constraints Familiarity with Python, C++, or MATLAB for automation and testing, bringing new levels of refinement to system validation and performance optimization A love of tinkering with hardware in your free time—pushing boundaries on personal projects that spark new ideas and breakthroughs The salary for this position may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional benefits or components based on the specific role. Details will be provided if an employment offer is made. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, that’s okay—we encourage you to apply. At Andromeda Robotics, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Let’s build the future together.
