The Firm
A leading specialist law firm with a strong presence across Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, and Brisbane, providing expert legal services in insurance, commercial, and banking law. The firm is highly regarded in the insurance and workers compensation sectors, acting for major insurers, scheme agents, employers, and government departments. Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking multiple lawyers at different experience levels to join its Employers Liability team.
The Role
Opportunities are available at graduate, junior lawyer, associate, senior associate and special counsel levels, working closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers. These roles offer exposure to a broad mix of workers compensation (WC) and work injury damages (WID) claims. Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing and assisting with a range of WC and WID claims.
2. Providing legal analysis, research, and case strategy support.
3. Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and court submissions.
4. Liaising with insurers, employers, and other stakeholders.
5. Attending conferences, mediations, and court proceedings where required.
The Candidate
The firm is seeking candidates for multiple roles, reporting to different partners. To be considered, candidates should have:
1. A law degree and a valid NSW Practising Certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).
2. Workers compensation experience (defendant experience preferred, but plaintiff lawyers will be considered).
3. Strong legal research, drafting, and advocacy skills.
4. The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-performing team.
5. A proactive and client-focused approach.
